What does this design principle aim to do?

Develop strong, long-term relationships with suitable partner institutions
Encourage staff involvement to strengthen and sustain collaboration
Prioritise reciprocal, language-feasible partnerships that support both outgoing and incoming students in music pedagogy.

What possible actions are recommended?

Establish formal agreements with partner institutions, outlining shared goals, staff involvement, and ongoing collaboration efforts to ensure long-term success.
Encourage regular staff exchanges and joint projects between institutions to strengthen relationships, foster knowledge-sharing, and ensure sustained collaboration.
Establish active partner networks based on matching profiles and mutual interest in the fields of artistic, scientific and/or pedagogical practice and research
Conduct an annual partnership scope review: confirm language of instruction by course/placement and list “realistic” options for incoming music-pedagogy students.
Encourage staff mobility for curricular mapping: send academic advisers to partner sites to observe classes/placements and co-draft sample learning agreements.
Conduct a reciprocity audit: track inbound/outbound balance and address one-way flows (e.g., Malmö→Leuven without Leuven→Malmö).
Provide students and staff advisors with regular and updated visa information requireemnts for each host institution including application procedures, typical processing times, and recent regulation changes

What does this design principle aim to do?

Ensure active engagement of both academic and administrative staff throughout the entire process.
Facilitate effective communication between partner institutions and provide training on legal and insurance matters.

What possible actions are recommended?

Organize regular joint meetings and workshops for academic and administrative staff to align goals, share information, and improve coordination throughout the process.
Establish cross-functional teams comprising both academic and administrative staff to handle key aspects of the student mobility, ensuring seamless communication and support.
Establish and maintain continuous dialogue between the exchange offices of partner institutions
Foster regular staff mobility between institutions to improve coordination on administrative processes (including legal and insurance matters).
Implement training programmes for administrative staff across institutions, focusing on legal requirements, visa policies, and insurance protocols relevant to international music students.
Create a communication platform where partner institutions can share updates on policies, administrative procedures, and legal matters, ensuring consistency and clarity for all involved.

Institutional collaboration and communication

Focus Area II addresses the partnerships and coordination structures that make mobility feasible and sustainable. It focuses on the relational infrastructure of exchange: developing strategic, reciprocal partnerships with suitable institutions, aligning academic and administrative staff, and maintaining clear communication across all stages of mobility. Mobility is treated here as a shared institutional task, helping your institution move beyond formal agreements toward partnerships that genuinely support both students and staff.
