TEAM offers a broad bundle of important initial impulses at neuralgic points in music education (ME) and music teacher education (MTE).
The overall rationale of TEAM is to create long-lasting impact in ME teaching and MTE, to the extent that it enables children and youth to use music creatively, as a means of cultural awareness and expression and as a means of social cohesion and future viability and fulfillment throughout lifetime.
This will be achieved through:
improving initial ME teacher education and creating appealing and sustainable continuous professional development opportunities for ME teachers by offering OERs on Erasmus+ European School Education Platform and on the TEAM website
fostering mobility of pre-service teachers also in school internships abroad and ensuring quality of the Internship by supporting mentors with the OER “Mentoring International”;
making available the knowledge about ME and MTE systems in Europe to ease future collaboration;
providing European curriculum developers with a practical set of European-wide TEAM Learning Outcomes.

This will result in improving the purposes of ME, and how it is taught in schools and universities. If these outcomes are achieved, it is possible that the status of ME will be raised in schools, with keeping ME in the curriculum, with ME teachers more likely to stay in their jobs and MTE students more likely to remain on their study programmes.
The TEAM framework will be context-sensitive, allowing every school ME department and MTE institution to use it in flexible ways that support their local needs. In the long-term, this includes departments and institutions located in countries that are not participating in the project, paving the way for further cross-border cooperation among programmes and countries.
